Senior Vice President, New Ventures

Tom Hellman was appointed senior vice president, new ventures in May 2026 following Devon’s merger with Coterra Energy. Hellman is responsible for Devon’s energy ventures, enhanced oil recovery, exploration, geothermal and shared technical services. He previously served as senior vice president, E&P operations since January 2025. Prior to joining Devon, he spent seven years at Marathon Oil Corporation serving in various leadership roles, most recently as vice president of operations for the Permian and Oklahoma regions. Before joining Marathon, Hellman was vice president, drilling and completions at WPX Energy, Inc. from 2015 to 2017. Earlier in his career, he worked at Apache (APA Corporation), BP, NSI Technologies and Amoco in various technical and leadership roles. Hellman holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Alberta.
