Senior Vice President, Subsurface

Kevin Smith was appointed senior vice president, subsurface in May 2026 following Devon’s merger with Coterra Energy. Smith is responsible for Devon’s operations planning, reserves, shared technical services and well performance lookbacks. He most recently served as senior vice president and chief technology officer for Coterra Energy. Smith began his career with Cimarex in 2007, serving in various technical and leadership roles including director of technology and Anadarko exploration region manager. In September 2020, he assumed the role of chief engineer for Cimarex. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa.
