Devon Supports United Way
Devon's commitment to strengthening communities where we live and work is apparent in the company's robust support of United Way organizations across North America. Hundreds of nonprofit agencies rely on funding from United Way – and Devon – to improve the health, safety, education and economic well-being of individuals and families in need.
In Oklahoma City, employees host floor fundraisers and compete in a variety of activities, including relay races, an outdoor pancake breakfast and the annual “Are you Smarter than a Vice President" contest – all to raise funds for United Way programs. Various nonprofit agencies are on-site during the campaign to provide information about the community services they offer.
Devon employees also serve as Community Investment volunteers to help United Way review outcomes, financial data and overall performance for programs administered by a variety of nonprofit agencies that receive United Way funding. And, many employees throughout rural Oklahoma are enthusiastic volunteers in the United Way's Day of Caring.
Devon employees in North Texas participate in fishing tournaments, clay shoots, silent auctions and ice cream socials to provide support for United Way agencies in seven counties. Safety meetings in Gillette, Wyo. provide an opportunity for employees to learn about United Way agencies in their area.
In Canada, seven United Way agencies across Alberta and British Columbia receive Devon's support. And, the company has partnered with the United Way of Calgary to implement programs under the “All in for Youth" initiative, which brings people, companies and organizations together to connect youth to resources needed to be successful in school and beyond. Employees in Calgary participate in chili cook-offs, silent auctions and a variety of team competitions to raise funds.
