Privacy Policy

Privacy Statement
Devon Energy Corporation, either directly or through one of its affiliates or subsidiaries (collectively, “Devon”), from time to time, requests personal information from individuals with whom it conducts business, including, without limitation, such individual’s social security number and/or tax identification number (“Personal Information”). Devon is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of Personal Information.

We hope you will take a moment to review Devon’s full privacy policy. If we make any material change to this Privacy Policy, we will inform you by posting a notice on the Devon home page. You do not have to contact us to benefit from Devon’s privacy protections; they apply automatically to all individuals providing Personal Information to Devon.

How Personal Information is Collected and Used
Devon gets most Personal Information directly from you or your representative. Devon may collect public and nonpublic Personal Information about you from any of the following sources:

  • Division orders, leases, inquiries, public records and other documents submitted by an individual or their representative or gathered by Devon in the course of managing ownership interests and revenue distributions associated with an oil and gas property

  • Other interactions with Devon (for example, discussions with our owner relations staff)

Individuals receiving payments from Devon are assigned unique internal identification numbers that are not associated with an individual’s Personal Information. However, the collection of Personal Information is necessary for Devon to fulfill certain legal and regulatory requirements including, without limitation, its obligation to report payments made to individuals to the Internal Revenue Service and other taxing authorities. You should be aware that Devon will use and provide such Personal Information to governmental agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, when filing Form 1099’s for payments such as revenue distributions.

How Personal Information is Protected and Who Has Access to Personal Information
Devon has physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in place to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of Personal Information under our control.  Within Devon and among our service providers, we restrict access to Personal Information to those individuals within Devon who require access to manage ownership records and payments made by Devon to individuals. Our staff are required to protect the confidentiality of Personal Information and to comply with Devon’s established privacy policies. They may access Personal Information only when there is an appropriate reason to do so. Individuals who violate our Privacy Policy are subject to Devon’s disciplinary process.

How Personal Information is Disposed
Devon may share Personal Information that we collect with the following entities:

  • Affiliates or subsidiary companies to Devon Energy Corporation

  • Certain service providers (for example, data processing, contractor safety verification and printing companies) solely for the purpose of providing services to Devon

  • Governmental agencies, other regulatory bodies and law enforcement officials (for example, for tax purposes or for reporting suspicious transactions)

  • Other persons and organizations, with the consent of the individual providing the Personal Information or as directed by such individual’s representative

  • Other persons and organizations, as permitted by law (for example, for fraud prevention, subpoena or litigation)

Without your consent, Devon will not make disclosures of Personal Information to other companies who may want to sell their products and services (for example, Devon does not sell customer lists and will not sell your name to a catalog company or telemarketer).

To Whom This Policy Applies
This Privacy Policy applies to individuals providing Personal Information to Devon in order to receive revenue distributions or other payments from Devon associated with ownership interests that such an individual may have in oil and gas leases or properties or to receive payments for services provided on behalf of, or to, Devon.

Even if you no longer receive revenue distributions or payments from Devon or no longer do business with Devon, Devon’s Privacy Policy will apply to you.
