Operations - Jackfish Projects

Projects Overview
Devon's Jackfish Projects are located approximately 15 km (10 miles) southeast of Conklin, Alberta. Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) is the technology that is being used to extract the bitumen over the life of the projects.

Devon has and will continue to work with local stakeholders to develop a strong foundation and operating principles for the Jackfish Projects that balance environmental, social and economic considerations.

Jackfish 3
Devon continues to evaluate the development potential of our oil sands leases in the Athabasca region of Alberta, and has identified sufficient oil sands to support an additional project.

Devon is currently working on an application for the proposed Jackfish 3 (J3) Project. Engineering studies are underway to determine the final capacity of the new project and to define the optimal level of integration with the Jackfish and J2 facilities.

Devon is committed to environmentally sustainable economic development and the involvement of the community from the earliest stages of project planning. The consultation process for J3 will build on our ongoing cooperative approach implemented for Jackfish and J2. Devon is working with local stakeholders to develop a strong foundation and operating principles for the J3 Project that balances environmental, social and economic considerations.

Construction of J3, pending regulatory approvals, is scheduled to begin in 2012 with initial production targeted for 2014.
