Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction
Devon's Canadian Division believes in conducting all activities in a manner that safeguards the health and safety of our employees, contractors and the public, while preserving the quality of the environment for future generations.
In keeping with this commitment, we are continuously working to improve our operations to reduce both energy consumption and emissions. Becoming more energy efficient is an integral part of Devon's operating philosophy.
Some significant elements of our voluntary action plan include:
- —
Developing energy conservation programs and emissions-reduction technologies
- —
Educating employees and the public through training and awareness programs
- —
Measuring and publicly reporting on our progress
CSA Climate Change, GHG Registries (formerly VCR Inc.)
Devon's Canadian Division is actively involved in the Canadian GHG Challenge Registry (formerly VCR Inc.), a non-profit partnership between industry and governments across Canada whose mission is to provide the means for promoting, assessing and recognizing the effectiveness of the voluntary approach to addressing climate change.
Since 1995, Devon and its predecessor companies have voluntarily provided the GHG Registries with an annual report outlining actions taken to reduce greenhouse gases. The report also contains education, training and awareness initiatives to promote greenhouse gas and overall emissions reductions, as well as the company's successes over the past year and an action plan for the upcoming year.
Devon's Canadian Division is proud to hold the Gold Champion Level Reporting Status; the highest ranking that is awarded to companies for implementing and reporting greenhouse gas reduction initiatives to the GHG Registries.
