Corporate Responsibility

Watching out for our neighbors, protecting natural resources and working with communities that surround us are among Devon’s core values. Out of our desire to fulfill those commitments, we believe it is our duty to operate in ways that are safe and environmentally responsible.

Our efforts to achieve these objectives are broad in scope. They range from companywide emissions reduction programs to water recycling efforts in the vast Barnett Shale natural gas field in north Texas. Our award-winning safety program is driven by innovation and the underlying philosophy that if we can’t do it safely then we will not do it.

Within the pages of this section, you will find our environmental health and safety program, as well as our Corporate Social Responsibility report, our Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Statement, our safety and environmental achievements and feature stories about some of Devon’s environmental initiatives.

We understand that the issues addressed here are important to a broad range of stakeholders, and we are grateful for your interest in not only what we do but how we do it.

The project was planned, constructed and closely monitored by state and federal environmental agencies. It was such a success, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers followed Devon’s lead and built two of its own islands several miles away.
